Racing tires are made for high speed racing and competition. They are made from a softer tire compound that maintains its road gripping ability even under the extreme heat of high speed racing. They come in different models, but the two main ones are the slick and wet racing tires, made for dry and rainy conditions on the race track. While most racing tires are street legal, some are not. Most dry weather racing tires do not have a good wet weather traction and will not resist hydroplaning, which is why they are only meant for dry weather racing.
